To clinch the 2023 Airthings Masters, the reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen overcame Hikaru Nakamura by score of 2.5-1.5 at the Division-I grand final. Meanwhile, Fabiano Caruana defeated Yu Yangyi to be crowned as the Division-II winner and qualify for the Division-I at the upcoming event

2023 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour: Leg 1 – Airthings Masters final results, winners, & match events
In their rematch at the grand final of Division-I of the 2023 Champions Chess Tour Airthings Masters, Carlsen emerged victorious to clinch the crown. Although Nakamura played at his very best but, an error by him allowed the reigning world champion to pounce upon the chance and win 2.5-1.5. Following his win, Carlsen has already qualified for the 2023 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour play-off scheduled for December.
Elsewhere, Fabiano Caruana overcame the challenge of Yu Yangyi to become the champion of Division-II and following his win, he will be promoted to Division-I for the next event. In the Division III Grand Final, Praggnanandhaa aimed to avenge his earlier loss against Sam Sevian but, the Indian prodigy fell short to settle with the runner-up position.
According to known information, four star players for the next event of 2023 Meltwater Chess Tour in April has been decided, while the other four contenders will be chosen through a play-in scheduled for March.
Meltwater Champions Chess Tour: Leg 1 – Airthings Masters 2023 prize money pool distribution
There will be a total prize fund of $235,000 at the 2023 Airthings Masters, with Division-1 collecting $112,500. The total prize money for Division 2 is $71,500, and there will be a total of sixteen competitors. A $51,000 prize pool will be available for the 32 players in Division 3. By becoming the champion of Division-I, Magnus Carlsen has bagged eye-catching sum of $30,000.
