The 2023 Khelo India Winter Games started in Gulmarg on February 10 and will eventually end on February 14. The scenic village of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir has just increased the enthusiasm for the Khelo India Winter Games in 2023.
In 2020 and 2021, Gulmarg and Leh collaborated to host the previous two events. In the next competition, there will be eleven different winter sports competitions with more than 1,500 athletes from 29 Indian states and Union Territories.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India, the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, and the Winter Games Association of Jammu and Kashmir have worked together to organise the Khelo India Winter Games in 2023.

Previous editions
The two prior editions were dominated by Jammu and Kashmir. In the first competition, they took home 76 medals, including 26 gold ones. The Indian Armed Forces’ Services Sporting Control Board (SSCB), a sports organisation, came in second place with 21 medals, including eight gold medals.
Jammu & Kashmir earned 11 gold medals out of a total of 34 in 2021. Karnataka came in second with five gold medals overall and nine total.

The Union Sports Minister played cricket in Gulmarg during snowfalls.
Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs, and Sports, played cricket with locals in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gulmarg on Thursday, one day before the start of the Khelo India Winter Games.
Speaking to the media, Thakur claimed that the Khelo India project has organised youth, university, and winter games throughout the nation. On February 4, 2023, he made the remarks when unveiling the third Khelo India Winter Games Mascot, Theme Song, and Jersey.
