Before his 58th birthday, which would have been on Saturday, the Fox13 News reporter passes away on February 9 at his home in Desoto County. His family recently disclosed the medical condition Tom was diagnosed with, while many mourners and well-wishers expressed their condolences on social media.

The Indiana native and Mississippi State University graduate was a renowned Fox13 reporter. His entire career was then spent on broadcast news. After receiving a diagnosis of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), a rare disease that affects the lungs and makes breathing challenging, Tom passed away.
The ailment wasn’t unique to Tom’s family, according to a GoFundMe page set up by his relatives, who also noted that Tom’s father had the same condition. Tom’s father also died of the same illness in April of last year.
His family started a GoFundMe campaign for his medical expenses.
Cathy, Tom’s wife, and their three children, Amelia, Ally, and Austin, are left behind. His daughter Ally is the one who created a GoFundMe campaign to gather money for her father’s medical expenses. As of the time of writing, the fundraiser has raised $35,090 of its $50,000 target.
Ally stated in the description, “My dad has spent the last 25 years being the finest parent me and my two siblings could have asked for.” “Because of him, we have had the pleasure of getting to know so many amazing individuals in the Mid-South community, and we have every confidence that they will come together to support him during this difficult time.”
The family of the Memphis-based reporter expressed their gratitude to all the medical professionals who have helped the family get through this trying period.

Following news of Tom’s passing, coworkers and viewers paid him moving condolences.
“So sad to hear of the demise of my old colleague, Tom Dees. He was indeed one of a kind, but he was also so much more,” commented his former coworker Matt Stark.
