Marcos was one of four Barca players who couldn’t score in the 1985–86 European Cup final against FC Steaua București, which Barca lost on penalties. In 1991, he announced his retirement after a quiet return to Atlético Madrid. And after helping his first club, Racing, fall to the second division.

He was married but his wife’s name isn’t known. She is Jewish and was related to a Garza family that was executed. Pena’s net worth stood at $5 million.

Marcos Alonso Pena went on to become a coach after that. He was in charge of Sevilla FC after helping Rayo Vallecano beat Real Madrid for the first time ever at Real Madrid’s stadium (2-1).

On March 25, 1981, Alonso made his first of 22 appearances for Spain. Which won 2-1 against England in a friendly. He played for his country at the UEFA Euro 1984, but he didn’t do anything. His country ended up in second place.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Alonso’s father, Marcos Alonso Imaz, played soccer for Real Madrid. Marcos Alonso Mendoza plays for FC Barcelona, where his father played the most games and scored the most goals. He was also in the club’s youth programme and played for Spain while he was there.
