Alycia, who bagged the number 51 after her first ever victory at the Lyon Open on Sunday, is all set to go in the finals, which is scheduled to be held today, at 04:30 p.m. local time.
As per reports, Macci trained Parks when she was a little girl, now everyone is wondering whether Parks is the emerging talented tennis prospect of the 7-time USPTA national coach of the year.
Earlier, the 68-year-old took to his Twitter and praised the player and even went to compare her to some of the world famous personalities including Williams sisters.
After sharing a clip, he penned “10-year-old Alycia Parks learning the serve with Coach Rick Macci.”
Who is Alycia Parks?
For those who are unfamiliar with the player, let us tell you, the number 51 tennis player, whose full name is Alycia Marlene Parks, was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 31, 2000.
The 5 ft 11 in tall tennis player presently lives in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The right handed player made her WTA debut at the 2021 MUSC Health Open.
The green clay court tournament was held at Charleston, South Carolina. Later she faced her first Grand Slam tournament against Olga Danilović.
At the time, she was knocked out by opponent, but she made history after she clocked the fastest women’s serve speed in the tournament’s history. She matched her speed with Venus Williams’ record.
During the Lyon Open, Parks reached her first WTA semifinals after defeating Julia Grabher, Danka Kovinić and Petra Martić.
To reach her first WTA final, she defeated Maryna Zanevska. After she defeated Carolina Garcia, she recorded her top-5 win and claimed the maiden WTA title. After winning the match on Sunday, Parks received a prize money of $472,669.
He is currently ranked 51 in women’s singles with 1,009 points.
