Although India started their 2023 SAFF U20 Women’s Championship in the best possible manner with a thumping 12-0 win against Bhutan, their inability to win any of the remaining matches proved costly. Following their humiliating 1-3 loss against Nepal in their last round-robin game, India have crashed out of the tournament. Meanwhile, Bangladesh managed 5-0 win against Bhutan to finish at the top and qualify for the championship match against Nepal.
In their Tuesday’s match against Nepal, the defending champions India took the lead and headed for win but, leaky defense saw them concede three quick goals. India were unable to response this predicament and hence, lost by two-goal margin that spelt the end to their title quest.
