Rohit Sharma started his club career batting at number 8 or 9 and he was able to bat well which was observed by his coach Dinesh Lad. he was able to spot his batting abilities and offered a batting position since then there was no turning back.
He made his debut in the Champions Trophy where he opened the batting which helped him secure a decent place in the Indian batting line up however like every player Rohit Sharma also had some downfalls and drop in the form which was reflecting in his cricket.
His performance in test cricket was decent but not good for a batsman of his caliber and he was struggling to keep his form which was not being helped by the team but changes were made to the Indian squad which was a usual trend in the dressing room.

In July of 2018, he posted a tweet saying that “the sun will rise again tomorrow” and so it did as he was welcomed back given more opportunities in later matches. In 2019 he played 6 matches and scored 556 runs, and soon after the break amidst the pandemic he continued working hard and was able to continue with his magical form. This year as he has already played 19 matches with 768 runs making him the hitman he is on the pitch.
The test rankings were announced today and there were several changes than last year as there are players like Joe Root, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith who have played well to earn their spot in the rankings. Sharma has finally managed to go beyond every Indian on the list as he is at number 5 ahead of number 6 – Virat Kohli
