Manchester City’s Benjamin Mendy Denied Bail After Being Charged With Rape, To Stay In Jail For S*xual Assault Case

Benjamin Mendy who was denied bail after being arrested on charges of rape was allowed to play by Manchester City despite the club knowing of the case against him

Recently picked up by the Cheshire Police on four counts of rape and one of sexual assault, Benjamin Mendy was denied bail in the case against him. In a behind the doors closed hearing, the French defender was refused bail at the Chester Crown Court today.

Benjamin Mendy Sees Bail Plea Denied In Rape Case

During the hearing, the player’s bail appeal was quashed by Judge Steven Everett with the case being adjourned until September 10. Mendy will now return to jail in HMP Altcourse, Liverpool where he’s being kept in custody since being picked up for three attacks which are said to have taken place last October whilst one was carried out by him only earlier last month.

Mendy had also had a previous bail plea refused by District Judge Jack McGarva at the footballer’s Magistrates’ Court appearance on August 27 despite the player’s lawyers denying the chargers against his client.

Manchester City Refused To Suspend Mendy Despite Rape Charges

While Manchester City suspended Mendy after he was arrested, it has now been known that the club continued to play the defender despite a police investigation being launched back in November of 2020. Mendy who has been accused of rape since last year most recently stepped out for City in the Community Shield with his employers refusing to take stringent action against him despite the heinous nature of the accusations against him.
