Roberto Firmino suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday when Liverpool faced Chelsea at Anfield, know about the injury update of the striker
The Brazilianโs injury has given Jurgen Klopp and his side much to worry about.
Roberto Firmino had to be substituted right before half-time with what is suspected to be a hamstring injury mid-game against Chelsea.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw with Kai Havertz scoring for Chelsea and Mohammed Salah on Liverpoolโs score sheet. It was Diogo Jota who came in right before the half-time whistle in place of the Brazilian forward. But the real cause of concern is that who will take Firminoโs place for the time being.
Amidst other concerns, Firminoโs injury might have exposed Liverpoolโs lack of quality players to back up the 30-year old. Even if they make Jota play in his place, the club cannot fully rely on the Portuguese forward who has also suffered a knee injury and missed 19 games last season.
Roberto Firmino Injury Update And Return Date
The club has shown interest in signing Mikkel Damsgaard who can contribute to the team in place of Firmino.
After the match Klopp said, โBobby felt his hamstring. He is not someone who raises the hand when he doesnโt feel anything. It doesnโt look too serious, but you never know.โ
Kloppโs side looked weaker in the second half of the game against Chelsea without Firminoโs presence. Even though the team still has a promising attack with Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota, Klopp might need to work something out if Firminoโs injury is serious.
However, it might come as a relief to Jurgen Klopp and his side that there is an international break soon and that period can be used up by Firmino for his recovery, without Liverpool having much problems.
If fortunately Firmino has suffered a grade 1 injury, then that will see him stay out for only 2-3 weeks. That shouldnโt be much of a problem for the team. The Brazilian is currently undergoing further scans and tests to asses the full severity of his injury.
Klopp might consider signing someone before the transfer window closes or make do with what he has. Hopefully, Firmino gets well soon enough and Liverpool donโt have to stress about signing any other player.
