A California-based family is calling for justice after a double amputee was fatally shot and killed by police officers as he tried to evade arrest with the video of Anthony Lowe Jr viral
For those who are unfamiliar with the situation, let us tell you, Anthony Lowe Jr., who is a father of two kids, was fatally shot by California police on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
As per a report by the Post, the police officer’s had fired roughly around 10 shots on the 36-year-old as he tried to evade his arrest after getting out of his wheelchair.

Lowe was a double amputee fleeing away from them, without his wheelchair.
He lost both his legs after a previous attack by Texas cops.

As per the statement given by his mother, Dorothy Lowe, Anthony had lost his legs after another altercation with Texas police.
Meanwhile in a statement, the Huntington Park Police Department stated that they were called at the scene as the deceased had stabbed somebody without any provocation.
Now the mother of the deceased came forward as she demands justice. In an earlier conversation, Dorothy stated that her son was “murdered,” and she doesn’t want nobody to “react to it,” before adding that she wants “y’all to get justice.”
A few moments before the incident, a witness caught the confrontation on video. The footage showed Anthony holding a weapon which appears to be a butcher knife, as he attempted to get away from cops.
In an earlier conversation, Lowe’s cousin, Ellakenyada Gorum stated that cops refused to give them everything that they need to know and what really happened to him.
Goroum further stated that “He was not homeless, he was loved. And it’s sad, really sad, that they’re getting away from killing our African American people.”
She further stated that Anthony was in a wheelchair, what more could he do. However, the cops have revealed that the officer opened fire at Lowe as he was afraid that the suspect might throw a knife at him.
As per Huntington Park Police department, officers tried twice to deploy tasers but they were unsuccessful in subduing the suspect. They furthermore added that Lowe continued to threaten officers with knives, so an officer involved in shooting opened fire.
Meanwhile, after learning about the statement released by authorities, Lowe’s aunt stated that “Be realistic about this, what could he have possibly done in a wheelchair?”
She further added that “We want justice.”
Despite the family struggling to make sense of their loss, they are mourning the death of Anthony Lowe Jr, who was a father, brother, son and friend.
As of now it’s still unclear whether cops have any body cam or dash cam video of the incident. However, authorities have refused to release the footage of nearby surveillance cameras yet after the video was handed over to the Sheriff.
