The wider motorsport community and NASCAR is currently mourning the tragic loss of aspiring racing driver Federico Gutierrez as they are paying tributes to the teenager, know his cause of death
NASCAR driver Federico Gutiérrez, who’s also known as the younger brother of famous Mexican professional driver Max Gutiérrez, has passed away at the age of 17.
For those who are unversed, let us tell you, Federico and Max Gutiérrez were involved in a tragic car accident on Sunday, January 29, 2023, outside of Mexico city.

Max, who had sustained unidentified injuries, has been air-lifted to a local hospital in Mexico city, where he is presently being treated.
The incident took place when Gutiérrez’ car collided with a Ford truck near Valle de Bravo resort about 60 miles outside of Mexico city last weekend.
The 17-year-old teenager was pronounced dead at the scene while his brother was shifted to a hospital by helicopter.
According to investigators, the truck driver was accompanied by his wife and one of them has also sustained injuries. They are also air-lifted to a local hospital in Mexico city.
Meanwhile, media reports suggested that another woman had been caught up in the accident and sustained injuries, she was rushed to a nearby local hospital.
However, as of now, the conditions of those who were in the truck aren’t made public. The authorities has also not revealed their identities.
Federico competed in the Truck Mexico Series after he made his US racing debut back in 2021 during a Late Model race. In 2022, the aspiring racing driver was named NASCAR Mexico Challenge Series Rookie of the Year.
Max’s Truck Series, AM Racing, took to their official social media handle as they sent their condolences to Gutiérrez family.
Their post reads, “AM Racing extends our sincerest condolences to the Gutierrez family on their loss of their son, Federico.”
Meanwhile, NASCAR Mexico Series described him as an aspiring driver and “friend” as they paid a poignant black and white tribute.
