Biography of Richa Ghosh
Richa, a native of Siliguri, West Bengal, has always had a passion for the sport. She began playing when she was only four years old and hasn’t stopped since. Manabendra Ghosh, Richa’s father, used to play cricket on a club level, and Richa’s mom stays at home to raise their family. Her dad is a former umpire for the West Bengal team.
She attended Margaret Sister Nivedita English School in Siliguri, where Richa matriculated. Shomasree Ghosh, the child’s older sister, is a media scientist. Subhas Pally in Siliguri, West Bengal is home to Richa and her family. Richa’s father encouraged her passion for the sport by bringing her to the Siliguri fields where he used to play.

Ghosh enrolled Richa in the Bagha Jatin Athletic Club after witnessing her daughter’s enthusiasm for and aptitude at cricket. Since there was no girls’ squad, Richa often competed against the boys on the mixed team. As a result of her brave batting, she was frequently added to the Under 14 and Under 18 boys squad.
As early as the age of 11, Richa Ghosh was selected to play for the Bengal Under-19 squad. She began playing for the Bengal U-23 squad when she was just 12 years old. Her first season playing T20 for Bengal was 2017–18. Richa was honoured as Bengal’s Female Cricketer of the Year for 2018.
