2023 Tata Steel Chess Tournament results today, match events, final day schedule, date, venue, & participating players
Only two of the seven games played on Saturday in the masters group had clear winners, with all the other games ending in ties. In the most thrilling match of the day, 18-year-old Nodirbek Abdusattorov tied with third-place Wesley So to maintain his half-point advantage. Although title contender Anish Giri drew against compatriot Jordan van Foreest to maintain second place, he has only one round left to catch Abdusattorov. Meanwhile, Carlsen’s draw against Pragg meant the reigning world champion is one-point behind the leader with nearly improbable chance of clinching the title.
Among other matches of Saturday, GM Parham Maghsoodlo continued his stellar form to secure second consecutive victory and move to 6/12 points, that saw him sit just half-point behind US Open champion Fabiano Caruana. Richard Rapport was the only other victor from twelfth-round matches as he won against bottom-placed Indian youngster Arjun Erigaisi. Elsewhere in the challenger’s tournament, GM Alexander Donchenko has bagged the title with one round to spare.
