2023 Snooker Shoot Out Chris Wakelin vs Julien LeClercq final match events, score, & summary
Following Sunday’s jam-packed double session of the 2023 Snooker Shoot Out, Chris Wakelin emerged victorious through a completely one-sided final. In the championship match, Wakelin thrashed teenager LeClercq by score of 119-0 to win his maiden ranking event title. Following his 119 break in the final, Wakelin has also registered the highest break of this tournament. Earlier in the semi-finals, Wakelin defeated Dominic Dale to end the latter’s hope of becoming the oldest ranking event champion in history at the age of 51, and LeClercq put an end to the title quest of amateur Daniel Wells.
Although the Belgian 19-year-old LeClercq showcased his potential, he narrowly missed being one of the select few players to have won a ranking tournament while still a teenager and achieving the exceptional feat of winning a championship in his first season. Meanwhile, Wakelin made the most of his first-ever semi-final qualification and went all the way to clinch the title along with humongous prize money.
