When will the WPL 2023 player auction take place?
The WPL 2023 players auction is likely to take place between February 5-9. The auction will be concluded before the commencement of the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup, commencing on February 10. The tournament will take place in South Africa and will conclude on February 24.
What are the teams’ names?
The inaugural edition of the WPL 2023 is going to be played between five teams. The teams are Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Lucknow. The 3 franchises in the competition are owned by IPL owners. The Adani Group was the highest bidder of all, spending 1,289 INR for Ahmedabad.

The WPL 2023 team owners will have a total purse value of 12 crores INR and each franchise in the league can make their squad of 15 to 18 players. Before the auction kicks off, players are required to register themselves for the auction. Registration for the same will end on Thursday (January 26), according to cricbuzz.
The WPL team owners will have an auction purse of INR 12 crore each to build their squads, which will have between 15 and 18 players out of which a maximum of 6 overseas players can be part of the squad.
There can be a maximum of 5 non-Indian players (4 overseas and 1 from Associate nation) in the XI in the WPL cricket 2023. Each team will play the other twice, making it 20 matches in the league stage. The league phase topper will directly qualify for the final, while the other finalist will be decided by an Eliminator between the second and third-placed sides like the IPL.
When will WPL 2023 start?
The BCCI has not made a formal announcement on the commencement date of the tournament. It is still working on the league’s format and how it can be played. However, tentatively the tournament could start from March 4-24, before the commencement of the 2023 IPL season.
