The NFL International Games plays an important part in growing American Football’s popularity outside of the U.S.
NFL International Games
The NFL International Games are an annual event where five NFL teams head to Europe to play the games there. This event helps to take the game to all new horizons. Thanks to events like this, American football has grown more popular outside the US with more and more overseas games featuring completely sold-out games.
Through the NFL International Games, fans in Europe will get to watch some of the NFL’s most prominent stars live. This includes several regular MVP candidates playing for some of the best NFL teams.
The NFL 2023 International Games Teams
The five teams set to take part in the NFL 2023 International Games are the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, and Tennesee Titans.
Game Venues
The Jaguars will return to their usual venue, i.e. Wembley Stadium, whereas the Bills and Titans will play at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
On the other hand, the Chiefs and Patriots, will set out to play in Germany. Munich and Frankfurt are the designated cities to host the NFL games in Germany for the next four years. Notably, both these teams are included in the NFL’s International Home Marketing Area (IHMA) program.

As of now, the organizers haven’t announced the exact dates, matchups, and kick-off times for the games. All these factors will most likely depend on the regular-season calendar. Statement from the NFL
While speaking on behalf the NFL, Peter O’Reilly, NFL Executive Vice President, Club Business, Major Events, and International stated:
Growing the league and our sport internationally is a major strategic priority for the NFL, and we are excited to again be playing five games outside of the United States in 2023.
Peter also added how the global interest in American football is currently at an all-time high. He stated that the NFL are looking to return to the UK and Germany in 2023 with the most iconic teams and NFL stars.
