Vafaei, the first Iranian to participate in the Masters, defeated Mark Selby in the first round with a brilliant performance and had chances to qualify for the quarterfinal after gaining a 3-2 lead. However, Vafaei was unable to take advantage of it as Lisowski immediately managed 67 break to even the score. Later, Lisowski managed to hold his nerves and win the last two frames for clinching the win. Following this win, Lisowski has qualified for the semi-final and is scheduled to face Mark Williams.
When playing Williams, O’Sullivan won the first three frames, including the first frame where he made a 115 break. At the mid-session break, Ronnie was in the lead by score of 3-1 and managed to maintain his two-frame lead. However, Williams levelled the match at 4-4 with a 143-point total clearance in frame seven and a 90-point break in frame eight. Williams made a 59 clearance to grab the lead at 5-4 after O’Sullivan missed a red to a middle pocket in the ninth frame while leading by 49 points. O’Sullivan forced a decider frame with a 77 break in the tenth frame, but Williams won 6-5 with a 102 century in the final frame. Since the 2000 UK Championship semifinals, this was the first time Williams has defeated O’Sullivan in a Triple Crown competition.
All games will follow the 2023 Masters’ rules and be best-of-11 frames, with the exception of the title. But to decide the winner of the championship game, a best-of-19-frames format will be employed. The event winner will also get a significant prize of £250,000 in addition to the renowned trophy.
