Following the conclusion of the Adelaide events, the ATP season will continue in Australia thanks to several A-list athletes moving to Auckland for the ASB Classic, which serves as a warm-up for the Australian Open.

The ASB Classic, an ATP 250 competition, was postponed owing to the pandemic beyond 2020 season. From January 9 to 15, the World No. 3 Casper Ruud will be the highlight of a star-studded lineup that will descend on Auckland in advance of the year’s first Grand Slam.

ATP Auckland Open 2023 results

Pedro Cachin of Argentina was defeated by Frenchman Constant Lestienne 6-1, 6-3.

Both Richard Gasquet and American Jensen Brooksby defeated wild card Kiranpal Pannu of New Zealand 6-3, 6-1, and Fabio Fognini 6-7 (2), 6-1, 6-3, respectively.

Fifth-seeded Alabout exander Bublik of Kazakhstan was defeated by Belgian David Goffin 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round of the ASB Tennis Classic. The match featured an intriguing mix of playing styles.

Players, draw, seeds

The ATP Tour island king its first visit to Auckland in three years this week, where World No. 3 Casper Ruud is in the lead at the ASB Classic. The Norwegian, who is competing in the ATP 250 tournament for the third time, was present for the draw ceremony on Saturday to learn about his potential road to victory.

The top seed will play either Serbian Laslo Djto Jaume Munar in his opening round, and he may face two-time Auckland champion John Isner in the quarterfinals. The Argentine Pedro Cachin and the Frenchman Constant Lestienne are the opponents for the sixth-seeded American’s opening match.

With victories over Alex de Minaur, Rafael Nadal, and Taylor Fritz at the United Cup, second-seeded Cameron Norrie comes to New Zealand with a 3-0 record overall. In his first encounter, the British player will take against a qualifier to maintain his undefeated start.

The 27-year-old is seeded to compete against Diego Schwartzman in the semifinals and Adrian Mannarino in the quarterfinals. In his opening match, eighth-seeded Frenchman Mannarino faces J.J. Wolf, while third-seeded Argentine Schwartzman faces either Jenson Brooksby or Fabio Fognini.
