Kapil Dev was enamored with the manner in which PM Narendra Modi welcomed the Tokyo Olympics athletes and hailed their efforts
Ever since India’s over 100 strong contingent for the Tokyo Olympics was announced, the incumbent BJP government in the country spearheaded by PM Narendra Modi has provided unstinted support to the partaking players. From ensuring their training and vaccination went through seamlessly ahead of the games to providing them with every last bit of resources, the government spared no expense to give our athletes the best.
And the unnerving efforts paid off with India returning with its best ever tally from the games. With seven medals in their country, the players were welcomed back to a rousing reception with India’s Sports Ministry facilitating the players at the Ashoka Hotel in Delhi.
Along with being asked to grace the country’s 75th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, the contingent was also asked to visit PM Modi at his residence. And it made for effervescent viewing as the Prime Minister crooned accolades the players way and serenaded their performances.

From eating ice-cream with PV Sindhu to enjoying churma with Neeraj Chopra and boosting the athletes’ morale, PM Modi showed how devoted his government is to elevating the sporting culture in the country. His efforts were appreciated by 1983 World Cup winning cricketer, Kapil Dev who took to Twitter to talk about how PM Modi was throwing his weight behind unearthing the best sporting talent in India.
He also went onto mention how the PM had spoken with the players and their families both before and after their soirees at the games, a gesture which alluded towards how PM Modi had stood by the athletes in both their good and bad times.
Dear @narendramodi Ji,
