He was born in Cremona, Italy, on July 9, 1964. He stood 1.80 meters tall, or 5 feet 11 inches, tall.

In his home in Italy, Gianluca Vialli began his club career in 1980 at Cremonese. Later, Sampdoria acquired him in 1984 after being pleased by his performances. In 1992, he moved to Juventus for a then-record $12.5 million. Later, he joined Chelsea in 1996, and the following year he was named the team’s player manager.
Gianluca Vialli participated in two FIFA World Cups, in 1986 and 1990, as a member of the Italy national team. In more than 500 appearances over the course of his 20-year professional football career, he scored 286 goals, ranking him as the tenth-highest scorer among Italian players across all competitions.
After he stopped playing, he entered management, worked as a pundit, and served as a commentator for Sky Italia. He served as the delegation head for the Italy national team’s non-playing personnel, however, he resigned from this position owing to his health problems.
