He served as an assistant to Jesualdo Ferreira, André Villas-Boas, Vtor Pereira, and Paulo Fonseca while he was employed with the club. He relocated to Liverpool in 2014 where he worked as Jürgen Klopp’s First Team trainer and Brendan Rodgers’ assistant coach.

Lijnders accepted the managerial position at NEC in the Dutch Eerste Divisie on January 2, 2018. He agreed to a one and a half year contract. After NEC lost in the promotion play-offs to be promoted to the Eredivisie, Lijnders was fired on May 17, 2018.

On June 5, 2018, he rejoined the Liverpool coaching staff. He was a member of the coaching team that assisted Liverpool in capturing their 19th league championship during the 2019–20 season and their sixth UEFA Champions League victory on June 1, 2019.

Meanwhile, for Liverpool, Matheus Nunes of Wolves will not be allowed to play for Jurgen Klopp’s team until the 2023–24 season, thus the Reds will put an end to their chase for the midfielder.

Liverpool reportedly reignited their interest in Nunes earlier this week and hatched a plan to snag him from Molineux in January, according to rumours that surfaced earlier this week.

While his salary at Liverpool isn’t known, his net worth stands at $1-3 million with him releasing a book called Intensity about Liverpool’s playing style and his time at the club.
