Sending Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma back in the opening exchanges of day 5 of the Lord’s test match, England found themselves in a dream position. With only India’s speedsters left to come out to bat, the English were widely touted envisaged to sweep the visitors under the mat in no time.
However, at a time when India were being made a meal of, two unlikely heroes stepped up for the side. Despite not being revered for their batting skill set, both Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah showed immense fight and character as they prevented India from being sold down a river.
From a position of losing the test match to dictating proceedings on the day, both Shami and Bumrah grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck. Playing some outstanding cricketing shots, the two sent the English bowlers packing as they carried India into the lunch break with a crucial lead in its kitty.

As things stopped working for them and both Bumrah and Shami bleeding them dry, the English bowlers started getting increasingly irate. After Mark Wood’s bouncers and string of comments directed at Jasprit Bumrah failed to waver his confidence, Jos Buttler decided to take up the job of sledging.
The wicket-keeper and Jasprit Bumrah were caught engulfed in a brawl as the two feuded on the pitch. Exchanging words, the two had to be separated by the umpire who intervened as he spoke to Bumrah in between the overs break.
