On Saturday, J.J. McCarthy suffered several losses.

When they captured Katya Kuropas, the girlfriend of Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, cheering from the stands, ESPN’s camera crew made a star out of her in the crowd. However, as she was enjoying herself, several online users appeared to notice that Mccarthy’s father was allegedly groping her.

An early snap hit McCarthy in the stomach before he was prepared, costing Michigan the chance to win the Fiesta Bowl. To move the sticks, the Wolverines attempted to pick it up and lateral, but Colston Loveland was tackled to end the game. For a career-high 343 yards and a touchdown, McCarthy completed 20 of 32 passes.

Michigan lost against TCU 51–45.

The wide receiver involved in a contentious call during Michigan’s loss to TCU in the College Football Playoff semi-final continued to fume long after the game had ended.

On a toss from quarterback J.J. McCarthy to wide receiver Roman Wilson in the second quarter, who received the ball and appeared to fall back into the end zone, it appeared as though the Wolverines had a touchdown in the bag. The ball, however, had not yet crossed the plane when Wilson was injured, and it was 1 yard short of the goal line.

Further points were taken off the board when McCarthy attempted to pass the ball to Kalel Mullings but he fumbled into the end zone and the Horned Frogs recovered. One of the biggest upsets to occur since the CFP’s start was TCU’s 51-45 victory against the opponent.

After the game, Wilson still seemed angry over the non-touchdown call.

After the game, he told the New York Post, “I caught the ball and I was in the end zone. That they called that back is kind of bull. McCarthy later remarked, “We fought with all of our hearts.”
