Premier League Injury Update 2021-22: Manchester City’s Phil Foden Out For 1 Month Due To A Foot Injury

Phil Foden did not go for his holidays after the defeat in the final of the EURO 2020 against Italy but stayed in Manchester and worked on his rehabilitation. Foden sustained a twisted ankle before the final match of the tournament and was devastated as he was robbed of a place in final.

While other players enjoyed their holidays and returned this week, where, on the other hand Phil Foden stayed at the Manchester City training facility to get ready as soon as possible as preparations for the new 2021-22 campaign begin.

Foden will miss City’s 3 opening games and their title defense opener against Tottenham. Meanwhile, 30-years-old Kevin De Bruyne is out injured after suffering a minor injury to his right foot in the semi-final of the EURO 2020 against Italy.

21-years-old English playmaker Phil Foden who performed exceptionally well for his country in the EURO 2020 only to miss out on final because of injury. He can still feel the pain in his ankles upon his return to the Premier League training camp.

He said-

“It has been really difficult for me personally – I want to get back on the pitch as soon as possible, said Foden. Picking up a foot injury just before the final, it was a strange one. I was just training and it happened. I just twisted my foot. It was unfortunate.”

Pep Guardiola holds the midfielder in very high regards and wishes him a speedy recovery who has now become a crucial part of the Manchester City squad. His Intelligence at such a young age is appreciated by the footballing pundits of the Premier League.

Phil Foden Career, Goals And FPL Potential

Phil Foden arrived at Manchester City when he was 4-years-old and developed through the youth ranks of the club. He impressed the coaching staff with his maturity on the ball and extraordinary vision to pass the ball from one side to another.

His breakthrough season came in 2018, where he managed to bag 38 appearances for the club in all competitions finding the net 8 times and assisting many goals. He became a crucial part of the team under Guardiola participating in all the important games.

The following season, he took part in 50 matches for the Premier League side and was never on bench when he was fit. It would be interesting to see how City cope without De Bruyne and Phil Foden.
