A cause of death is yet to be declared.
The group posted the following message on Twitter: “We are heartbroken to say Maxi Jazz died peacefully in his sleep last night. Maxi was a man who changed our lives in so many ways. He gave proper meaning and a message to our music. He was a lovely human being with time for everyone and wisdom that was both profound and accessible.”
In Brixton, London, in 1957, Maxwell Fraser gave birth to Maxi Jazz. He later enjoyed a fruitful career as a member of the band Faithless and as a solo artist. Maxi Jazz also played guitar and sang lead for the band The E-Type Boys.

He and Faithless were regular festival performers together. They were the featured performers at some of the most prestigious festivals in the world, including Glastonbury.
During the 1980s, Maxi Jazz was a prominent figure in the British party scene as a DJ for pirate radio and the creator of the Soul Food Cafe System.
Maxi Jazz Forms Faithless Group
The group Faithless was eventually created by him, producer/instrumentalist/DJ Rollo Armstrong, keyboardist/DJ Sister Bliss, and singer/songwriter Jamie Cotto. Records defined their 1996 debut album Reverence as “folk-house-hip-hop-blues-ambience-jazz-rap for the dance floor and sofa” due to the eclectic influences they drew from.
The band UB40, who they toured with, tweeted their condolences, saying, “A great person, again who has gone too young, but finally Maxi you can get some sleep.”
Tiesto, Jamiroquai, and Robbie Williams were among the artists he worked with over his career. Jazz was also a fan of and sometimes participant in auto racing.
Faithless Broke Up
The band broke up in 2011, but they reunited and came out with a new record during the Covid pandemic. Jazz, however, did not join them; he was busy with his own group, Maxi Jazz & The E-Type Boys. Jazz, during a hiatus from Faithless in 2013, began writing music for a guitar band that would become his next musical outlet.
A combination of “melodic funk and blues, reggae beats, dub baselines, and Jamaican melodies,” as the band put it on their website. He was single and unmarried with his net worth at $8 million.
