The decision came on Wednesday, December 21, through the Athletics Integrity Unit, which oversees doping cases in track and field.

Antyukh reportedly had also not made any appeals for the penalty handed down to her. Following the decision, America’s Lashinda Demus, who was previously the runner-up to the decade-old race will now take her place as the champion.
Behind her, Zuzana Hejnová of the Czech Republic and Kaliese Spencer of Jamaica will receive the silver and bronze respectively.

Natalya Antyukh is a Russian sprinter who takes part in 400 meters dash and hurdles. Antyukh, who’s full name is Natalya Nikolayevna Antyukh, was born on June 26, 1981, in Leningrad. Her younger brother Kirill Antyukh is also an athlete who previously competed as a sprinter before turning to Bobsleigh.

Achievements
Antyukh won a silver and a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics when she was just 23 years old. In the 2012 London Olympics, Antyukh won the gold medal in the 400 meters hurdles aged 31. Following her achievements in the Olympics, Antyukh received the Russian Order of Honor.
Disqualifications And Doping Charges
Despite all her Olympic success, things took a sharp turn downhill when she got stripped of her 2012 Olympics medal four years later, in 2016. Antyukh got stripped of her medal because her after teammate Antonina Krivoshapka’s results were disqualified.
Later in 2020, Antyukh and three other Russian track and field athletes were charged with doping offenses. The four athletes reportedly used a prohibited substance or method to boost their performances. Following the charges, she received a ban in April 2021, which suspended her from participating in all sort of athletics for four years, until 2025. Moreover, all of her results from 30 June 2013 onwards were all disqualified.
Just recently, in October 2022, which is more than 10 years after she took part in the race, Antyukh’s results were all disqualified. She was even stripped from the gold medal that she had won during the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Antyukh was also included in a list of Russian and Belarusian athletes who received another ban from March 2022. The ban excluded her from taking part in any form of World Athletics competitions with no stated end date. According to reports, the ban was imposed as a response to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
