Since Elon claimed that his baby boy was stalked in Los Angeles, a lot has been going on Twitter. He subsequently made a public announcement that he was suing Jack Sweeney, the 20-year-old programmer who established the ElonJet account that tracks airplanes’ paths.
Twitter also shut down numerous other journalists’ accounts without notifying them or providing an explanation; subsequently, Elon Musk, the CEO of the website, claimed the journalists had doxxed him.

Then, he referred to the act of releasing someone’s personal information online as “doxxing,” and stated that if you do it, you would be suspended, in a late-Thursday audio chat on Twitter Space.
Elon stated in a tweet on December 15 that any account doxxing real-time data will be suspended. Taking to Twitter, he wrote,
This includes posting links to sites with real-time location info. Posting locations someone traveled to on a slightly delayed basis isn’t a safety problem, so is ok.

What Is Doxxing?
Doxxing is the act of publishing someone else’s private information online without that person’s consent. It also refers to discovering the true person hiding behind a nickname and publishing that person’s internet identity.
It is expressly defined as a violation of both individual and corporate policies. Some doxxing incidents are motivated by harassment or retaliation, while others are directed against those who make racist online remarks in secret or who are captured on camera expressing such views.
Although this practice is decades old, it is still prevalent today and may be quite hazardous. Someone becomes an easy target if their home address, place of employment, phone number, email, or other details are public.
Is It Illegal?
Since most jurisdictions lack explicit anti-doxxing legislation, it is not illegal. Its legality is instead assessed on a case-by-case basis. While gathering or disseminating publicly accessible information is seldom against the law, doxxers may also be held accountable for other offenses.
These offenses include inciting violence, stalking, harassment, and identity theft.
