Statement from the executive engineer for VVMC
Rajendra Lad, the executive engineer for VVMC, responded when asked how much was spent to fix the pothole-filled roads in Vasai and Virar in advance of the marathon: “Various items like maintenance of roads, painting of dividers and electric poles, cutting of bushes, footpath repairing, etc. are involved. Due to the ongoing nature of our [repair] work, we are unable to provide specifics regarding the entire cost.” One of the organisers, Sanjay Kadam, did not reply to emails.
