The appointment of Virendra Sachdeva comes after the present Delhi BjP chief, Mr. Adesh Gupta resigned from his position. ย He resigned after the order by BJP national president Mr. JP Nadda amid failing for securing a win in the concluded Municipal Corporation of Delhi recently in the (MCD) elections.
โAs following the path of BJP president, Mr. JP Nadda, Adesh Guptaโs resignation has been accepted by BJP. Until any further notice comes, Virendra Sachdeva has been appointed as the working president for BJP Delhi,โ
After BJPโs defeat in the MCD, all the members have been demanding few changes in the leadership. As for them, there is a big need for strong and also more effective leadership in the unit of Delhi for the party to win elections of the assembly
โWe have lost all the 3 elections, that were held after Gupta took charge as being the Delhi BJP chief,โ a BJP leader stated in a statement.
Moreover, the BJPโs vote share increased at this time, it will not be translated into the partyโs victory as the party lost a few strongholds in the areas of the middle class and the other wards by a wafer-thin margin. AAP has secured a total of 134 seats, while the BJP has got a total of 104 in the 250-ward seat. Apart from this, a three-percentage point increase in its vote share from the last municipal elections was recorded.
โHowever, despite the increase in the share of the votes, we have lost wards of areas including the East Patel Nagar, Madipur, Rohini A, Munirka, Ramesh Nagar, Rohtas Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, Moti Nagar, etc by less than 1000 votes,” the BJP source said.
