Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s Family And Education
Sukhvinder Singh was the president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee from 2013 to 2019. His father Rashil Singh was a bus conductor by profession and Sukhinder is a lawyer by education as he is a graduate of the University of Himachal Pradesh, India. Sukhu is married to Kamlesh Thakur and he is 165 cm tall. Singh has attended the Govt Degree College of Sanjauli. He also has 2 daughters whose names are not known.

A native of Hamirpur district, Sukhu began his political career being a part of the Congress’ student wing of the National Students’ the Union of India. He was an activist at the University of Himachal Pradesh. Sukhvinder emerged through the ranks and led the NSUI state unit in the late 1980s and the mid-1990s.
Getting into a full-time political career, Singh was president of the state Youth Congress in the 2000s. Sukhvinder Singh achieved the municipal election twice in Shimla and was then made secretary of the state unit in 2008. He got to the top of the state unit. Singh was also chief whip of the Congress Legislature Party from 2007 to 2012.
Singh is a grassroots leader and he is perceived to have a self-made image having risen up from humble beginnings unlike the Congress counterparts Pratibha Singh and Mukesh Agnihotri. Sukhu has been also known as an aggressive firebrand leader since his student activism days. He became the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh after his party’s victory in the 2022 Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly election. The Congress selected to become the CM and named Mukesh Agnihotri his deputy.
