The United States carried out a high-level prisoner swap with Russia in an attempt to free basketball star Brittney Griner who got arrested at the airport of Moscow in February for the possession of cannabis oil. Griner will be swapped with Viktor Bout. The foreign ministry Russia has confirmed the swap, which took place in the Abu Dhabi. “The Russian citizen has come back to his homeland,” it stated in a statement.

Who is Viktor Bout?
Viktor Anatolyevich Bout was born on 13th of January in 1967 and presently he is 55 years of age in 2022 with his height at 5 feet 11 inches. He used his multiple companies for smuggling weapons from the collapse from the Soviet Union of Eastern Europe to Africa and the Middle East during the 1990s and early 2000s.
Bout is married to Alla Bout and the couple has been married since 1992. Elizaveta Bout is the daughter of Viktor Bout and was born in 1994, in the United Arab Emirates.
He has also been nicknamed as the Merchant of Death and Sanctions Buster after Peter Hain of the British Foreign Office read a report to the United Nations in the year 2003 on his wide-reaching operations.
In the US operation, he got arrested on March 6th of 2008, in Thailand on the terrorism charges by the Royal Thai Police in cooperation with American authorities and Interpol.
