The Indian players have received an overwhelming amount of love and rewards for their medal-winning appearances at the recently conducted Tokyo Olympics 2021.
As we all know that India won one gold, two silver, and, four bronze. The players made their nation proud with their hard work, devotion; they put their sincere efforts into these achievements. Indian player’s Olympic achievements at Olympic Games 2021 are the result of the efforts that they have been putting for years. So let’s come and take a look at how the players were awarded for their gameplay.
Full List Of Prize Money Given To Tokyo Olympics 2020 India Medal Winners
1- Neeraj Chopra
Chopra achieved a gold medal in the javelin throw, India ended at the top being first for the very first time since the Beijing Games held in the year 2008. The gold medal win was only possible because of a long throw of 87.58m as none of the participants could go to this length. As per reports, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh declared a special cash reward of Rs. 2 crores for Neeraj Chopra for his gold-winning.
Although, things did not end here because as many more cash rewards came to Neeraj’s way. The BCCI and the Chennai Super Kings have declared cash awards of Rs.1 crore each for the javelin thrower. BYJU’S, study platform also declared a total amount of Rs. 2 crores for Neeraj Chopra. Moreover, Chief Minister of Haryana ML Khattar also declared a cash award of Rs. 6 crores. Manipur government and Elan Group’s chairman Rakesh Kapoor declared cash awards of Rs.1 crore and 25 lakhs.
2-Mirabai Chanu
Mirabai Chanu opened India’s medal tally by winning a silver medal in the women’s category of 49kg weightlifting match on the 24th of July. Mirabai Chanu very closely missed out on gold medal from Hou Zhihui of China. The Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said to award Mirabai by declaring a total of Rs 2 crores.
This outstanding weightlifter also got 1 crore from Biren Singh, the Chief Minister of state Manipur. It has also been said that the IOC will be rewarding Mirabai Chanu a total of Rs. 40 lakhs.
3-Ravi Dahiya
Athlete Ravi Dahiya who became the second wrestler to win a silver in wrestling was rewarded with an amount of Rs. 4 crores from the CM of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar. He is set to achieve Rs 40 lakhs from IOC and getting Rs. 50 lakhs from the BCCI.
4-Bajrang Punia
Player Bajrang Punia got a cash reward for his hard work from the government of Haryana; they declared Rs 2.5 crores for Bajrang Punia. Aside from that even the BCCI also declared a reward of Rs. 25 lakhs.
5-Hockey Team
The Indian hockey team bought home an Olympic medal bronze medal for the first time, as from the year 1980. From BCCI they would be receiving a sum of Rs.1.25 crore, cash reward worth Rs 25 lakh from IOC. Moreover, the state governments also declared cash awards for the hockey players of their respective states.
6-PV Sindhu
Shuttler PV Sindhu won a bronze medal in the Tokyo games and has been given a reward of Rs 50 lakh under Andhra Pradesh’s sports policy. PV Sindhu also achieved a reward of Rs.25 lakhs each from BCCI and IOC.
7-Lovlina Borgohain
The boxing enthusiast Lovlina Borgohain who ended with the bronze medal would be getting an amount of Rs. 50 lakhs from Assam’s sports policy. Assam Congress has also declared an amount of Rs 3 lakhs as a cash reward.
