The France vs Poland clash in the round of 16 of the on-going FIFA World Cup featured an incident involving the referee and Jules Kounde and his jewellery chain that caught the attention of many fans, know the rules for wearing things during matches
During the match, which took place on Sunday afternoon, the assistant referee stopped the match after he found Jules Kounde wearing a piece of jewellery.

Fans were obviously surprised with the incident as the Barcelona summer further needed help to take off his chain.
France vs Poland
The incident occurred during the first half of the action at the Al Thumama Stadium. The game started with a tough break for both sides as Olivier Giroud missed a golden opportunity to France ahead after a great cross from Ousmane Dembele.
Poland likewise missed an excellent opportunity to score following a double save from Hugo Lloris and two goal line clearances. However, France finally broke through before the half time as Kylian Mbappeโs pass to Giroud, got through on goal. Giroudโs goal now makes him the top scorer for France with 52 goals, past Thierry Henry.
Despite all this action, the focus of the match turned to Kounde halfway through. The assistant referee stopped the match and signalled Kounde who was on the sidelines to take off his chain, which he wore for over 30 minutes of the match.
IFAB Rules Of The Game
According to the IFAB rules of the game, law four details what kind of equipment a player is allowed.
Section one of the law states that due to safety:
โA player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous. All items of jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) are forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewellery is not permitted.โ
The rules further add that referees should check players and substitutes before they come onto the field. It further states how referees need to ask players to remove any jewellery that could harm others. In case players do not comply, they will have to leave the field after being cautioned.
