Everton midfielder James Garner was substituted during the game against Bournemouth. The 21-year-old had a back injury and was subsequently left out of Everton’s squad for the Sydney Super Cup. Everton bought the youngster from Manchester United on the final day of the summer transfer window. Initially, it was anticipated that his injury would not be a major problem; but, recent news has presented a significant task for Frank Lampard.

According to the Athletics injury expert, Ben Dinnery spoke to Give Me Sport and said;

“So, this was another update from Frank Lampard; [Garner] missed game week 16 due to an injury sustained while competing in the Carabao Cup. He thus skipped the team’s midseason visit to Australia. The original kind of prognosis was rather acceptable, but further examinations and testaments suggest that Garner won’t likely be back in the running until maybe the end of January or possibly early February.”

Frank Lampard could use Isaac Price as Garner’s replacement

Frank Lampard joined Everton late in the summer transfer window from Manchester United, and Garner has yet to properly adjust to his playing style. From the standpoint of Everton, Lampard will have to juggle his men carefully throughout the holiday season in order to emerge without an injury.

Before making his Premier League debut against his former team Manchester United, Garner had not appeared in any of their team’s first nine games. Despite the fact that he only had a brief cameo, his energy led fans to call for more time. Following that, he would start every game from the bench, and each week’s worth of games would see him get more playing time.

Fans are likely to witness Isaac Price playing with Frank Lampard in January if Garner is out due to injury. With Price eager for playing time and Lampard probably bringing in new players to his paper-thin team in January, Garner may find himself unexpectedly far down the pecking order. We hope James Garner recovers quickly.
