On Friday, Mark Selby lost 2-5 to Neil Robertson and was unable to advance to the 2022 BetVictor Scottish Open semifinals. Thepchaiya Un-Nooh defeated Judd Trump for the first time ever during quarterfinal matches of the BetVictor Scottish Open, as he defeated the world no.3 by score of 5-4 on a re-spotted black. Later in the second quarterfinal, Gary Wilson prevailed over Kyren Wilson by a score of 5-3 to qualify for his sixth ranking event semi-final.

At the beginning of Friday’s evening session, Robertson put on a devastating performance, as he quickly raced to a 3-0 lead thanks to breaks of 133, 99, & 83. Selby, however, shown his customary tenacity with a break of 104 to reduce deficit and go 3-1 into the mid-session. Upon the restart, Robertson restored his three frame lead with a run of exactly 100. Selby responded with 105 to maintain momentum at 4-2, but Robertson crossed the finish line with 60 to secure a 5-2 victory.

In the best of 11 frames semifinal match on Saturday, Robertson will now take on Joe O’Connor. O’Connor defeated three-time ranking event champion Ricky Walden by a score of outstanding 5-1 to claim a spot in the semi-final. On his way to this evening’s victory, O’Connor blasted in breaks of 127 & 81.

Prize Money Pool Distribution at 2022 Scottish Open

The 2022 Scottish Open champion will receive £80,000 in cash from a prize pool of £427,000. Meanwhile, runner-up in the competition will receive £35,000 as opposed to the semifinal losers who will only receive £17,500. Due to their quarterfinal elimination, Judd Trump and Kyren Wilson will receive £11,500 each in compensation.
