UFC Indian Fighter: Take a look at all the Indian Fighters who are currently under the contract with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)
Although Mixed Martial Arts is an upcoming sport in India, but the growth is still far from best to be able to send Indian Fighters into the grandest stage of MMA, UFC. Given the passion of the Indians for sports, there have been some athletes who have made it to the grandest stage against all adds. So, in this article we will look at all the Indian based or Indian descent fighters in the UFC.
UFC Indian Fighter List And Name
- Arjan Bhullar
He became the first MMA Fighter of Indian descent to have signed with the UFC in 2017. Arjan Bhullar had represented Canada in freestyle wrestling at the Olympic Games and held a record of 6-0 against his name till 2017 before entering the UFC.
Bhullar fights in the Heavyweight division in the Battlefield Fight League, which eventually caught the eye of UFC authorities.
- Sascha Sharma
Another MMA Fighter from Indian Descent, Sascha Sharma hailed from Germany, he had an Indian father and German mother. Making his debut, he fought in The Ultimate Fighter in the 2015 series for Conor McGregor’s team.
He lost that fight against Chris Gruetzemacher (Team Faber) via unanimous decision and had to leave the ultimate fighter. Having said that, most of the fanatics remember Sascha from the TUF 22 footage where Conor McGregor gets angry at him for not listening to his corner and taking the fight to the ground.
- Bharat Khandar
He is the first ever Indian born fighter to have signed with UFC. Bharat Khandar fought in the Bantamweight division and he made his debut on November 25 in 2017, in UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs Gastelum. Out of the 8 fights that he fought, Khandar won 5 and lost 3 making his stat line red 5-3-0.
Bharat Khandare made his way into the UFC after emerging as one of the best athletes leading local MMA promotions where he was crowned Featherweight Champion.
Given the bevy of interest being shown by UFC in Indian fighters, the land is set to see a string of fresh names grace the land of the competition.
