An MSNBC health columnist and professor, MD Esther Choo is making headlines after she commented on cancelling the Thanksgiving to prevent illness
As per a report by the New York Post, the emergency physician, Dr. Esther Choo took to Twitter on Wednesday, November 23, and expressed her ideas on how to prevent respiratory illnesses such as Covid-19 and RSV.

In her tweet, she penned down that “for so many reasons,” Thanksgiving should be cancelled and winter holidays should be moved to summer. She furthermore declared that winter holidays to be more cozy and “hygge.”
She also went on to explain the benefits of these moves after she stated the lack of “bad holiday-themed sweaters,” and the fact that one doesn’t have to “endure” Thanksgiving.
Following her expression on moving the holidays and cancelling the Thanksgiving, she is presently facing a harsh online backlash.
As many are slamming the doctor while many are left wondering while she was joking or was serious. Her tweet had drawn much attention even some relevant political people are also seem to be intrigued by her tweet.
The Director of Rapid Response and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’, Christina Pushaw, slammed the professor in a tweet which reads, “May I suggest, we cancel “public health” tyrants instead?”
Who’s Esther Choo?
For those who are unfamiliar, let us tell you, Esther Choo is a doctor as well as a professor at the Oregon Health & Science University.
As per the tweeter page’s bio, she’s a Health service researcher as well as a Health Columnist at MSNBC, which is an American news based pay television cable channel and a subsidiary of Comcast.
Choo is quite popular for being a science communicator who uses her social media platforms to talk about racism and sexism among the medical profession and healthcare system.
She is also well known for serving the position of President of the Academy of Women in Academic Emergency Medicine.
Choo is a member of American Association of Women Emergency Physicians and the founder and a board member of Time’s Up, which is a non profit organization that helps in raising money to support victims of sexual abuse.
Time’s Up organization was created as a response to the MeeToo Movement within entertainment industry Hollywood.
Esther had completed a graduation degree in English from Yale College in 1994. Later, she went to work as an intern at The Plain Dealer, a newspaper outlet.
Later, she went on to pursue a degree in Medicine and completed a degree in 2001 from Yale University and became a resident at the Boston Medical Center.
After completing a degree in Medicine, she went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Public Health from Oregon Health & Science University in 2009.
For her work and dedication, she won the Outstanding Physician Award from the University Emergency Medicine Foundation back in 2012.
