After meeting Shraddha Walkar in Mumbai through a dating app, they started dating in 2018 but hid it for a whole year.

Aftab, who was a devotee of crime thrillers, admitted during the questioning that he had been influenced by the American crime drama โDexter,โ which shot to enormous global fame immediately after its premiere. As a result, The Shraddha murder case is now referred to as Delhi’s Dexter murder case.
The defendant said that the program gave him the idea to dismember Shraddha after the fact, preserve it in a luxury refrigerator, and scatter it about so that the authorities would never be able to find any physical evidence.
Even more startling is the fact that Aftab Poonawalla didn’t tell his family about his migration from Mumbai to Delhi until two months after he is alleged to have murdered Shraddha Walkar. During the conversation with Quint, aย family friend of Poonawalla who asked to remain anonymous said,
“His parents did not approve of Aftab’s relationship with Shraddha. He did not tell them that he was moving with to Delhi.”
