The Surat District Cricket Association (SDCA) is reportedly taking charge of the development plans for the new cricket stadium.

Reports indicate that the new stadium will be a revamp of the current Lalabhai Contractor Stadium, and will see a large increase in the seating capacity from 7000 to 30,000 seats.

Although the SDCA haven’t made any official confirmation or update about the new stadium, based on the information at hand, the new cricket stadium set to take shape in Surat is most probably the existing Lalabhai Contractor Stadium.
The stadium is currently undergoing construction, with plans to upgrade the seating capacity from 7,000 to 30,000 seats. The stadium, located in Surat is under the ownership of the SDCA. The main motive behind the expansion is that it will eventually become suitable for hosting national as well as international level of ricket games and tournaments.
Interestingly, during the fifteenth season of the IPL, Chennai Super Kings, who are four-time IPL champions, chose this stadium during their preparations for the IPL.
Modern-Day Stadium
According to reports, the massive project involving the stadium will feature a variety of modern-day amenities. The stadium will feature a modern Club House with residential accommodation, restaurants, and a banquet hall.
The new stadium will also feature a conference hall equipped with a mini theater, and locker facilities for the members.
