Chisnall had a strong start and was on the verge of winning at 4-3. However, Price sank double five to force a decider, then followed up visits of 140, 140, and 137 by executing a clinical 87 kill to win in 12 darts, leaving the 2014 runner-up to rue missing two match darts in the penultimate leg. Danny Noppert, the winner of the UK Open, will now face Price in a thrilling last 16 match on Wednesday as the Dutchman prevailed over Mensur Suljovic in a gruelling nine-leg match to win his third straight match and grab first place in Group B.
With a decisive whitewash victory over World Youth Champion Ted Evetts in his final round-robin match, Van Barneveld took first place in Group A. Additionally, Michael Smith finished first in Group C with a convincing 5-1 victory over Ritchie Edhouse, giving him a record-setting 16 consecutive round-robin victories at the Grand Slam. Rob Cross advanced to the round of 16 at the Grand Slam for the sixth consecutive year in the evening’s finale after coming back from 3-0 and 4-2 deficits to defeat Martin Schindler in a thrilling Group D shootout.
Tuesday’s action in the £650,000 tournament continues with the return of competitors in Groups E through H for their final round of group matches, which will feature a pivotal matchup between World Champion Peter Wright and World Grand Prix runner-up Nathan Aspinall. Prize Money Pool Distribution of 2022 Grand Slam of Darts
The Grand Slam of Darts winner in 2022 will get £150,000 in prize money, and the runner-up will receive £70,000. A $5,000 cash prize will be given to each contestant from the £650,000 worth of net prizes. Compared to last year’s £550,000 prize pool, this year’s prize pool is larger. After his failure to qualify for knockout stage and finishing third in Group A, Dave Chisnall will earn £8,000, while bottom-placed Ted Evetts will bag £5,000.
