Who Is Aaftab Ameen Poonawalla?
26 year old Aaftab Amin Poonawalla who is a Muslim is an Indian food blogger and a food photographer. He has been in the news because he brutally murdered his girlfriend 6 months ago and is now behind bars.
He is a resident of Vasai, Mumbai. He did his schooling at St. Francis High School in Vasai. He later did B.M.S. from Mumbai’s L S Raheja College. He is a professional food blogger who publishes under the handle “HungryChokro” on Instagram.
While working at a contact center in Mumbai, he met his live-in partner Shraddha Vikas Walkar. Prior to being murdered, the pair fell in love while working together at a call center in Mumbai. The pair moved to Delhi and began residing in a leased apartment in the Chhatarpur neighborhood of Mehrauli after their families refused to acknowledge their relationship.
He has a Facebook profile where he shares anti-Hindu propoganda and he is on Instagram as well.
Why Did He Murder Her Live-In Partner?
Investigation revealed that Shraddha had been killed five months earlier. Aaftab Amin Poonawalla was apprehended by police from a Chhatarpur apartment and taken in for interrogation.
Poonawalla admitted during interrogation that Shraddha had been pestering him to get married. They would argue about it constantly. On May 18, Poonawalla strangled his girlfriend after a disagreement.
After using a sharp object to dismember her body, Aaftab Ameen Poonawalla purchased a refrigerator to preserve the fragments. He would go outside at all hours of the night for the following 16 days and scatter the pieces over Delhi.
After questioning him, authorities started looking for the victim’s body parts in a city forest. Several bones were found at the location. More research is being done.
