Traveling Update! The Indian government has proposed to run the World’s longest luxury cruise from Varanasi to Dibrugarh via Bangladesh, know the charges and ticket price

As per a report by Business Standard, to push the inland waterways, the Indian goverment will be running a longest river cruise from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Dibrugarh in Assam through Bangladesh.

According to a report by Live Mint, the union goverment is reportedly hoping to start this new journey next year in January.

The cruise which is named as “Ganga Vilas,” on its 50-day journey, will cover a total distance of 4,000 kms and will pass through the neighbor country, Bangladesh.

This new exciting trip will start since January 10 and will end at Dibrugarh on March 1 while visiting Kolkata and Dhaka before reaching Bogibeel.

The Inland Waterways Authority of India has signed an MoU along with Antara Luxury River Cruises and JM Baxi River Cruises for the project.

According to reports, the ticket price will be decided by the operators without any intervention of government. The cruise is expected to be follow the model of PPP, which is public-private partnership.

In an earlier interview with Live Mint, the Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal revealed that cruise will cover 27 river systems.

Sonowal stated that, “Ganga Vilas cruise will sail from Varanasi to Dibrugarh in the longest river journey of 50 days covering 27 river systems and visit over 50 tourist sites including World Heritage Sites.

He also revealed that, after amending the Indian Vessel Act, now cruise have a national permit to move across states seamlessly.

For those who are unversed let us tell you, the cruise will start from Varanasi and it’ll take about 8 days to reach Patna via passing through Buxar, Ramnagar, and Ghazipur. The ticket price would be decided by the operators without the Centreโ€™s intervention with booking available online.

It will cover almost 1,100 Km to Bangladesh before finally making its way back to nation. The journey is making possible under the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route.

The protocol has already opened the transit channels for trade and connecting the two countries via Ganga and Brahamaputra rivers.
