Yesterday, the Nebraska Cornhuskers beat the Northwestern Wildcats 3-2 in a volleyball game at the Illinois Welsh Ryan Arena. It was a close game, with the Wildcats taking the first set 29-27. After losing the second set, 20-25, the cats were able to win the fourth set, 25-23. In the end, they lost 15-6, and setter Sienna Noodermeer had to be carried off the court on a stretcher because she was hurt.

In the middle of set five, Sienna ran after a ball that was going toward the stands. This stopped the game for about 15 minutes. The first-year student’s eyes were on defending, so she didn’t notice she was running full speed into the ground floor seats.
Video shows that the setter bounced off the hard thing and then fell down the stairs as people rushed to help her.

The Corn Nation says that paramedics helped the athlete. At the end of the game, both teams came together to pray for her health.

Even Nebraska’s head coach, John Cook, was surprised by the injury because it was so unexpected. “I’m so sorry about what happened. That one was hard. “In all the years I’ve been coaching, I’ve never seen anything like that,” he told Huskers Radio Network, as reported by Lincoln Journal Star.
