Fan Zhengyi came back to win the third frame, but O’Sullivan scored an 89 in the following frame to make it 3-1. The Rocket continued to gain ground in the fifth game, taking a 4-1 lead and moving within two of the championship with a break of 55. O’Sullivan subsequently increased his lead to 5-1, but Fan rallied with century break of 123 to keep O’Sullivan at bay and reduce deficit to 5-2. The flow was only temporarily stopped, though, as O’Sullivan delivered contributions of 53 and 75 in the final frame to secure victory by score-line of 6-2.
Following this victory, reigning world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan has qualified for Sunday’s final, where he will face tournament’s reigning champion Judd Trump in rematch of 2022 World Championship final.
