Erling Haaland spoke about speculations of Chelsea being asked to big 175 million euros to seal his transfer from Borussia Dortmund
From being set to be outright favourites for acquiring Erling Haaland’s services to now seeing his transfer turn into an improbable situation, the last month hasn’t quite worked out in Chelsea’s favour.
Although Chelsea, spearheaded by Roman Abramovich’s ambitions are set to break the bank for the Norwegian starlet, Borussia Dortmund’s unwillingness to sell is turning out to be a peril for Chelsea. The German side is said not let Haaland go for anything less than 175 million euros with the club ready to risk losing him cheaply once his release clause activates next season.
Despite the club’s richest, it’s a value which is said to be staving even Chelsea away. This would be an unprecedented value with reports coming in of Chelsea unwilling to even launch a bid for the player till they are sure it will be accepted by their counterparts.
Chelsea Transfer News 2021-22: Erling Haaland Opens Up On 175 Million Euro Fees
In the midst of these reports, Erling Haaland himself was directly quizzed about the behemoth 175 million price tag set to be slapped on him. And the striker was quick to assert that he himself believed it was an outland price, one which he wished was just a rumour.
“Before yesterday I haven’t talked to my agent in a month, you’ve to tell me. But I hope they are just rumours, as €175 million would be a lot of money for one person,” Haaland said.
He further continued by saying that he had nothing to comment on his links to Chelsea and he was happy at Borussia Dortmund with whom he has a contract at the moment. In the midst of all this, Thiago Silva’s son sent out a plea to Haaland on Instagram, urging the striker to join Chelsea for the new season.
While Haaland’s transfer is up in the air, Chelsea are working on a move for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde with Kurt Zouma moving in the opposite direction.
