Hope Solo was detained by two police officers in North Carolina on March 31, 2022. She was found sleeping in her truck by cops, who questioned her why she was sleeping in the parking lot, to which she answered, “because I took a nap.” She was then questioned if she had consumed alcohol, which she strongly denied.

As the second officer approached Solo’s car, she began to protest against him. Many videos have already emerged online portraying the incident between the goalkeeper and the officers.

In the recently released footage, two sons can be heard weeping inside the vehicle while Hope Solo is being pulled out and detained by the police for drunk driving. In connection with the incident on March 31, Hope Solo was charged with misdemeanour child abuse and resisting a public official.
According to a statement from the Forsyth County District Attorney’s office, Solo received a 30-day active sentence and a 24-month suspended term from the court. He was given a 30-day sentence for time spent in a rehabilitation facility as well as a $2,500 fine and a $600 lab test fee to pay.
Hope Solo expressed regret on her Instagram.
At the time, Solo said on Instagram, “The beautiful thing about making such a large mistake is that harsh lessons are taught swiftly. Learning these lessons has been challenging and occasionally quite unpleasant. I will continue to learn from these events since I am still a student at the finest institution there is, which is called life.”
