By defeating Ryan Day 6-5 in the final of Group-3, Fan Zhengyi advanced to the semi-final stage of 2022 Cazoo Champion of Champions. Earlier in first-round matches, Neil Robertson was eliminated after losing to Fan.

Fan Zhengyi’s tournament debut started on high-note as he defeated Neil Robertson by score of 4-3 to open Day 2 of competition. Later in afternoon session, Ryan Day kicked-off his campaign with a valiant performance that saw him defeat European Masters winner Kyren Wilson 4-3 in the afternoon. Following these results, it was settled that Fan will face Day in evening session’s Group-3 final.

As expected, group final clash featuring Fan vs. Day quickly transpired with both of them moving through the gears to reach mid-session break in just under an hour. Despite Fan taking early-lead with 135 in opening frame, Day held his nerve to take 3-1 lead before mid-session break. However, Fan resumed his attack after the break, scoring 130 and 52, which tied score at 3-3. Day continued to resist Fan and forced decider after levelling score at 5-5 thanks to 93 break. In last frame, Fan managed runs of 36 & 30 that saw him seal victory against Ryan Day and advance to semi-final stage as Group-3 Winner. Following this victory, Fan has earned berth in semi-final, where he will face winner of Group 2.

In first-round matches of Group-1, reigning Champion Judd Trump will play against Luca Brecel on Wednesday. Later in afternoon session’s second game, Mark Allen will play Joe Parry.

Prize Money Pool Distribution at 2022 Champion of Champions

At the 2022 Champion of Champions, the victor will get hefty prize of £150,000, while the runner-up will receive £60,000. Meanwhile, every semi-final loser will get £30,000 from the £427,000 total prize fund.
