There was a tragic event during the Kolkata derby game between ATK Mohun Bagan and East Bengal in the ISL 2022–23. Joy Shankar, a football supporter who came to the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata to support his side, tragically passed away from a cardiac arrest. According to several reports, Joy Shah is considered a resident of Deshbandhu Nagar in Baguiati.

At 9:00 p.m., only 15 minutes into the first half of the Kolkata Derby, Saha is thought to have had a heart attack. It is important to note that around 60,000 spectators attended the intense match between ATK Mohun Bagan and East Bengal at Salt Lake Stadium. However, according to reports, the fan began throwing up blood immediately after the game began and was taken by the police to the nearby AMRI hospital. Nearly 37 minutes after arriving at the hospital, the East Bengal supporter died despite doctors’ best efforts to rescue him. Locals claim that Saha was spotted at the stadium seated in the East Bengal stands.
The unfortunate news was revealed by the East Bengal head coach via Twitter
Stephen Constantine, the head coach of East Bengal, tweeted a confirmation of the awful news regarding Joy Shah.
