“Unlike Lewis Hamilton I pay taxes,” Tyson Fury Aims Dig At The Mercedes Driver

Tyson Fury lashed out at Lewis Hamilton as he questioned the lack of recognition he had received from the UK for his laurels and Hamilton evading taxes

Over the years, Tyson Fury has been extremely vocal about the lack of recognition he’s received from his country. Despite being a two time world heavyweight boxing champion, Fury has never been accorded the kind of respect or laurels some of the sporting personalities in the country have.

Tyson Fury Lambasts Lewis Hamilton Over Taxes

Lambasting the lack of support from his country after failing to find his name in the nominations for the Queen’s Honours List, Fury minced no words. He dragged Lewis Hamilton into the midst of his comments, talking about how he unlike Hamilton was both a proper resident of the UK and paid taxes in the country as well.

“Unlike Lewis Hamilton, I live and pay taxes which went up to £9 million last year,” Tyson Fury went onto say.

Over the years, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton has often been questioned for the frugal taxes he pays on his income in the UK. Whilst Hamilton has claimed he pays taxes in the countries he races as well, Fury is far from impressed with that bit of reasoning.

Lewis Hamilton ended up winning the United Kingdom’s Sporting Personality of the Year award in 2020 after matching Michael Schumacher’s record. His seventh Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship also saw him being knighted by the Queen with him being serenaded with the title, Sir Lewis Hamilton MBE.

Hamilton had ended up moving to Switzerland after making his F1 debut in 2007 with him subsequently going onto relocate to Monaco. The F1 driver had most recently won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone after deliberately colliding with rival Max Verstappen at the exit to end the Red Bull driver’s race.

And Tyson Fury raked up this comparison to question why he unlike other people in sports in the country were acknowledged for their triumphs. His rival, Anthony Joshua has gone onto receive the OBE as well.
