Upcoming 2022 edition of European Championship Darts, which will take place in Dortmund from October 27 to 30, has a definite schedule of play, and reigning champion Rob Cross will begin his title defense with matchup against 2018 edition champion James Wade.

2022 European Championship Darts Schedule, Venue, Draw, Format, & Playing Line-up
On Thursday, at the Westfalenhalle, fourth seed Cross will begin his quest for third European Championship Darts title with a thrilling first-round matchup against Wade. Further, seven more first-round matches will also be played on the opening night as top seed Luke Humphries, who won four European Tour titles in 2022, begins his campaign against Poland’s best player Krzysztof Ratajski. Also on Thursday, fifth-seeded Damon Heta will play Vincent van der Voort to begin his quest for title, while Michael Smith will face Czech ace Karel Sedlacek in first-round.
In another intriguing match, World Grand Prix runner-up Nathan Aspinall faces rising star Josh Rock, while UK Open winner Danny Noppert faces Andrew Gilding, one of six rookies in this year’s competition. Martin Lukeman, another debutant, will face Ryan Searle, while Dirk van Duijvenbode will face Madars Razma of Latvia to begin this year’s competition. On Friday, October 28, the first round comes to a finish with the matches of World Champion Peter Wright versus Ryan Meikle and four-time champion Michael van Gerwen versus Chris Dobey.
Following the first round, Round of 16 matches will be played over the course of two sessions on Saturday, before the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final are played over the course of a lengthy double-session on Sunday. The winner of each match in the first round will be decided by who accumulates six legs first in a best-of-11-legs contest. The semifinal and championship match will use a format of best-of-21 legs, according to the Professional Darts Corporation.

Prize Money Pool Distribution of 2022 European Championship Darts
The prize money for the winner of 2022 European Championship Darts will be £120,000, which is double the £60,000 awarded to runner-up. From a net prize fund of £500,000, each contender will get a guaranteed cash award of £6,000.
